Welcome back, mindful mamas! If you’re new here, I’m Angie, your guide on this 30-day journey to creating calm amidst the chaos of motherhood.

Yesterday, we kicked things off with a bang (and some fuzzy socks!) as I shared Julie Sedler’s brilliant tips for co-regulating with your kids and finding your inner calm with chocolate.

If you missed it, do yourself a favor and Check Out Day 1: Co-Regulation Tips for Kids —you’ll want those life-changing techniques in your mindfulness toolkit!

Today, we’re diving into the art of setting intentions.

Think of intentions as your daily anchor—something to hold onto when the sea of mom life gets a little too choppy.

Whether it’s creating more joy, practicing patience, or simply remembering to drink your coffee while it’s hot, setting intentions helps you focus your energy where it matters most.

Ready to get intentional? Let’s do this!

Day 2: How to Set Intentions

Now, I know what you’re thinking—”Intentions? Like when I intend to fold the laundry, but it ends up as Mount Washmore on the couch?”

Well, sort of. But this time, we’re talking about something much more fulfilling, and—dare I say it?—actually doable.

What Exactly Are Intentions?

Think of intentions as the compass that will guide you through the next 30 days.

They’re not hard-and-fast goals or to-dos, but a way of consciously choosing how you live each day.

Intentions are about setting the tone for your mindfulness journey. They’re the gentle reminders of what you want to cultivate in your life.

Maybe you want to be more present with your kids.

Maybe you’re aiming to be kinder to yourself (because let’s face it, us moms can be our own worst critics).

Or perhaps you just want to find five minutes of peace in your day that isn’t hiding in the bathroom because you’re overstimulated — hey, no judgment here!

The Benefits of Setting Intentions

Setting intentions isn’t just about feeling good for one moment – it actually works to keep you feeling good all day!

Research shows that when we set clear intentions, we’re more likely to stick with positive habits.

So, by the end of this 30-day challenge, you might just find yourself more present, more grounded, and maybe even a bit more patient when your toddler asks for the 117th snack of the day.

And the benefits of mindfulness? They’re practically limitless!

From lowering stress (hallelujah!) to improving focus, enhancing relationships, and even boosting your immune system, mindfulness is like the Swiss Army knife of self-care.

And it all starts with the simple act of setting an intention.

How to Set Intentions for Mindfulness

Grab your favorite journal, a cozy spot, and maybe a cup of cacao. Ready? Here we go!

  1. Reflect on What Mindfulness Means to You:
    • Is it being fully present in the moment?
    • Is it cultivating a sense of calm amidst the chaos?
    • Take a moment to define what mindfulness looks like in your life.
  2. Ask Yourself What You Want to Gain from This Challenge:
    • More patience?
    • A deeper connection with your kids?
    • A stronger sense of self-love?
    • Write it down—this is your personal intention.
  3. Keep It Realistic and Gentle:
    • This is not about perfection.
    • Maybe your intention is just to take a deep breath before responding to your child’s tenth “why” question. That’s perfect!
  4. Visualize the End Result:
    • Imagine how you’ll feel at the end of these 30 days.
    • More peaceful?
    • More centered?
    • Hold onto that feeling—it’ll keep you motivated.

You did it! Yes, it’s really that easy.

By setting your intentions today, you’ve anchored yourself in what truly matters and taken a beautiful step toward a more mindful, peaceful mom life.

Whether your intention is to embrace patience, find joy in small moments, or simply drink your coffee while it’s still hot, you’re creating a ripple effect of calm and connection.

My intention over the next 30 days is to show up for myself, so that my wholeness can create a ripple effect throughout my family and this community. I intend to show up with integrity and compassion, as often as possible.

My Pro Tip for setting an intention – and sticking to it – is to set an alarm (or a calendar reminder!) on my phone, with the label as my intention! Every day at noon my intention “calls” and I get a nice little reminder to focus on what’s truly important.

And you can change your intention! It doesn’t have to stay the same for the 30 days – or even two days in a row. If you wake up realizing you want to focus on something different, set that intention and then start your day.

Tomorrow, we’re diving into Day 3: How to Boost Your Energy & Habit Stacking—because if you’re anything like me, we both need a little more energy and easy ways to fit mindfulness into our busy days.

Stay tuned, and I’ll see you there!

xoxo, Angie
